KRINK Wallpaper

November 25th, 2008

KRINK was originally designed due to dissatisfaction with existing products in the art supply market. Searching for solutions, KRINK was developed by graffiti writer and artist, Craig “KR” Costello. Carefully seeking out ingredients that were not readily available, “KR” created a variety of homemade inks and markers fit for use in both street and studio environments.

Custom Flash Photo Galleries

November 10th, 2008

So in a world of complex flash programming where not everyone knows how to do it or even has the time for it, there are some awesome free photo gallery viewers out there that anyone who knows a little bit of programming can set up and make look really nice.

The site I found that has these free viewers is: http://www.airtightinteractive.com/viewers/

There are a few to choose from but overall they’re all pretty cool.

Calethia DeConto

August 2nd, 2008

On September 6th from 7-9pm Calethia DeConto, who is a good friend of mine, will be showcasing her polaroid work at a gallery in Los Angeles called Found Gallery.

If you’ve been following the news on polaroid you’d know that it’s going to no longer be manufactured, so this is going to be an awesome event showing Calethia and others polaroid work.

Having known Calethia for many years I’ve seen her polaroid and non-polaroid work and all of it is beautiful. So if you’re in the Los Angeles area do yourself a favor and check the opening of this show.

Mac low on memory?

July 28th, 2008

I start to run out of memory every once in a while and usually just back up my music and photos, and then just delete the photos off of my computer hoping to free up more space, however it wouldn’t make much of a dent.

After doing some more research I found out you can delete the old system files if you have installed a newer OS over your old OS.

Just follow these steps:

How to delete the Previous Systems folder from a prior Archive and Install

If you have performed an Archive and Install of Mac OS X, a Previous Systems folder was created containing your prior Mac OS X System folder. Once you are satisfied that your Mac is functioning properly after an Archive and Install, you can delete the Previous Systems folder as follows:

Mac OS X 10.3 Panther® or later:

- Using your Admin account, drag the Previous Systems folder to the Trash.
- Type your Admin password when requested to authenticate this operation.
- Empty the Trash.

Wordpress Shopping Cart

July 16th, 2008

I’ve had many clients in the past request to have e-commerce added to their site and all I could come up with since I didn’t know how to code a shopping cart onto the site was Paypal.  But even Paypal was a pain to work with.

But thanks to Paul Biu [Monk Media - Perth, Australia] I now know about the Wordpress e-commerce plugin.  The plugin allows you to collect payments for whatever you want to sell, even digital mp3’s!

Here is an excerpt from the plugin page describing payments.

“The standard version of WP E-Commerce comes allows you to accept payment manually and via PayPal, Google Checkout, and Chronopay. The Gold Cart module allows you to integrate your shopping cart with Authorize.net, Payment Express, eWay, Paypal - Payflow Pro, Paypal - Express Checkout, Bluepay and Protx Modules.

Each Payment Gateway has its own pros and cons and pricing - we recommend Google Checkout and Paypal.”

I haven’t added this plugin to Dj EVS.com yet for the sale of mixes that I did years ago and put out on CD, but I will soon so I can eliminate having to send out cd’s.

Welcome

July 16th, 2008

Well I’ve finially upgraded Milkcrate Graphics to include a blog.  I’ve been too busy lately to get the site re-designed and make it more visually appealing, but hang in there and I’ll have it up eventually.

In the meantime for the Milkcrate Graphics blog I’m going to post stuff regarding design trends, what’s hot right now and tools to help you keep your site up to date.  I’ll also feature sites that I like and sites of people who are designing clean and effective websites.

So keep coming back to see what’s going on in the design world.
